Durch einen Unfall löscht der vertrottelte Jerry (Jack Black von Tenacious D) versehentlich alle Kassetten in der Videothek seines Freundes Mike (Mos Def). Doch die beiden haben eine zündende Idee: Für eine Kundin, die unbedingt Ghostbusters sehen möchte, drehen sie den Film kurzerhand einfach selbst nach. Wider Erwartens steigt die Nachfrage nach den Bändern und nun müssen neue Filme produziert werden. Zusammen mit den Bewohnern des Viertels drehen die beiden ihre eigenen Versionen von zahlreichen Filmklassikern nach. Über Nacht werden sie zu den Stars der Nachbarschaft und hauchen nicht nur der alten Videothek neues Leben ein.

Klingt abgedreht? Ganz genau. Endlich mal wieder ein Film nach meinem Geschmack, der die stereotypen, hochglanzpolierten Hollywoodproduktionen durch eine witzige Idee, unkonventionelle Umsetzung und improvisierte Gags in den Schatten zu stellen vermag. Quasi ein Kultfilm, der noch kein Kultfilm ist, aber einer werden wird - aus meiner Sicht.
Außerdem führte Michel Gondry Regie, der unter anderem die Musikvideos für Everlong von den Foo Fighters und Fell In Love With A Girl von den White Stripes gedreht hat, zwei absolute Meisterstücke - jaja, aus meiner Sicht. Schon der Trailer macht Spaß, ganz abgesehen von der Idee, dass der Trailer ganz im Sinne des Films zufällig auch gelöscht wurde und neu gedreht werden musste - herrlich.
Umso erstaunlicher finde ich es, dass mich die Tante im Kino nur dämlich angeschaut hat, als ich gefragt habe, wann denn der Film starten würde:

- Mitleidiger Blick: Abgedreht!?? Was soll das denn sein?
- Mit voller Überzeugungskraft: Ein Film :)
- Leicht angesäuert: Aha. Sowas gibt's nicht.
- Stromberg- und Pastewka-Imitation: Äm, ich bin mir relativ sicher, dass es den gibt.
- Blättert in Unterlagen: Jaaaah... Gibt's doch, aber nicht bei uns. Abgedreht... pff.

Toll, dass jeder Scheiß gezeigt wird, aber nicht die Perlen. Ich dachte immer, dass ein 20-Millionen-$-Budget ausreicht, um selbst unser Kino davon zu überzeugen, einen solchen Film zu zeigen. Pustekuchen.
In diesem Sinne gehe ich nun Cannonball gucken. Wenigstens ein Film mit persönlichem Kultstatus möchte ich heute genießen.
