Ein kleiner Filmtipp am Rande für alle DMAX-Empfänger und Videospielliebhaber:

Längst ist die Computerspielbranche eine Multimilliarden-Dollar-Industrie, die mit immer neuen Produkten riesige Gewinne erzielt. Jahr für Jahr werden hier neue künstliche Welten erschaffen, in denen sich Millionen von Game-Fans auf der ganzen Welt nach Herzenslust austoben können.
Mit Teams von bis zu hundertfünfzig Leuten und Budgets von zehn Millionen Dollar ähnelt der Aufwand für die Entwicklung eines einzigen Spiels inzwischen fast dem einer Filmproduktion. Und das, obwohl es Videospiele erst seit vergleichbar kurzer Zeit gibt. Denn noch Anfang der 70er Jahre war das Fernsehen ein völlig passives Medium, mit dem man nur drei Programme empfangen konnte. Mit der Entwicklung einer ersten Spielkonsole und dem virtuellen Tennis-Spiel Pong gelang der Firma Atari dann 1972 der große Durchbruch. Dies war die Geburtsstunde des Videospiels. Mit dem japanischen Space Invaders und Tetris, einer Erfindung des russischen Computerexperten Alexei Paschitnow, folgten zwei weitere Kassenschlager und bereiteten damit den Weg für viele Generationen von Game-Highlights. DMAX Report schaut in dieser Dokumentation zurück auf die Anfänge der Erfolgsgeschichte.
