Weihnachten kommt immer näher und wir erreichen die musikalischen Größen in der Musikbranche. Das von John Lennon zusammen mit Yoko Ono im Jahr 1971 aufgenommen Lied Happy Xmas (War Is Over) ist allerdings eher sekundär ein Weihnachtslied als vielmehr ein Antikriegssong.
Die Lyrics basieren auf einer Plakatkampagne von Lennon und Yoko Ono in den späten Sechzigern, auf denen mit der Nachricht
War is over! (If You Want It) Happy Christmas from John and Yokodie Widersprüchlichkeit von Weihnachten und (Vietnam-)Krieg gezeigt werden sollte. Dieses Konzept zieht sich durch den gesamten Song (The world is so wrong / And so happy Christmas) und das nachdenklich machende Video, wobei es gleichzeitig den Anreiz gibt, das Weihnachtfest als Zeitpunkt der Reflektion zu erkennen (And what have we done / Another year over).
